CSIDS 4.0 - oy vey

Train the Trainers Events for CSIDS 4.0; CSIDS 3.0 EOL Sep 30, 2003
On August 1, 2003 Cisco will release a revision to the Cisco Secure Intrusion Detection System (CSIDS) course. CSIDS 4.0 will cover the Cisco IDS product family using IDS sw v 4.0 which has a new, from the ground up, operating system. VERY IMPORTANT: Because of the significant changes, all instructors will be required to attend additional training in order to become certified to deliver CSIDS 4.0 training. CLPs are encouraged to prepare for these changes because student and instructor kits for CSIDS 3.0 will not be available after September 30, 2003.

All CCSIs are invited to attend any of the following scheduled TTTs.
July 22-25; Austin, Texas
Aug 5-8, Paris, France
Aug 11-14, Paris, France
Outside of Train the Trainer attendance CCSI will need to attend a delivery of the new CSIDS 4.0 course and complete the associated certification exam with the appropriate passing score.

A full explanation of CCSI certification requirements is available in the PIC located on the Offerings in Development WebBoard. To register go to the TTT enrollment forms.

For more information contact irp@external.cisco.com.

Because the CSIDS 4.0 course will not prepare students to pass the current CSIDS 9E0-100 exam, Cisco will be releasing a new exam, 642-531, on October 7th which will test knowledge and skills learned in the CSIDS 4.0 course. Students will be able to register for the CSIDS 9E0-100 exam until November 1, 2003. Cisco needs your help to ensure that students of your CSIDS 3.0 classes understand that the CSIDS 9E0-100 exam is the exam they are prepared to take and pass and that the CSIDS 3.0 course will not prepare them for the future CSIDS 642-531 exam

Cisco will offer the future CSIDS exam in BETA form as exam CSIDS 643-531 from July 21-August 22 at the reduced $50 rate. Cisco will provide no-cost vouchers to any CLPs who want to participate directly, or who want their customers to participate directly in this BETA period. Look for more detailed information in future CLP Updates for instructions. To find out more about CSIDS 4.0 please review the Product Information Checklist located on the Offerings in Development WebBoard.

CSIDS v4.0 New Release Date
Cisco Secure Intrusion Detection System (CSIDS) 4.0 was scheduled for release in the Learning Store on August 1, 2003. Course development was delayed by unavoidable emergencies. However, the delay has been minimized, and CSIDS v4.0 is scheduled for release to the Learning Store on August 11, 2003. August 11th will be the earliest date you can order and have student kits shipped for your classes. August 18th will be the first day CLPs can offer a CSIDS v4.0 class with the new kits. If you have already scheduled classes for early August, contact John Knopp at jknopp@cisco.com or Ed Rivera at erivera@cisco.com to arrange for materials for these early classes.

The IDS version 4 software is completely new -- what it does, how it does it, the GUI, the clients and the functionality are all new and in high demand by Cisco Customers. Version 4.0 of CSIDS includes instruction and labs on the new IDS v4.0 software, the new GUI, the new clients and functionality.

It is anticipated that the course will be in great demand, as Customers acquire IDS v4.0 and begin to deploy its enhanced features. Please make sure your instructors certifiy early. Train The Trainer sessions are still available:
TTT in Austin the week of July 22-25
TTT in Paris the week of August 5-8
TTT in Paris the week of August 11-14
Register for one of these Train the Trainer events.

The revised CSIDS exam is still on schedule:
Exam Beta July 21 August 8
Exam 642-531 CSIDS available October 7, 2003. After the TTT sessions, Instructors will need to pass the exam to be certified to teach CSIDS v4.0.
