Help with ZENworks 3.2 imaging

Hi everyone!

I am trying to use Win200 client computers to create images in ZENworks Imaging Service. After using the Sysprep utility and creating the image using ZENworks everything works fine. But when restoring the image to another workstation, it initiates the boot process but after the Windows logo screen I receive a blue screen indicating that the computer could not boot properly. Am I missing something to perform a correct imaging for a Win200 computer, or what should be the problem?

Thanks,
Luis

Yes, I am using v3.2, but this problem would not be solved with the check disk utility, it may be a matter of how ZfD partitions the HD when installing the image I guess.

Thumbs up

Ok, we found out that by using checkdisk the blue screen went off! Thank you for the info, it was valuable although I thought it would not work at all, sorry about that. But I need to know if there is another way to make this process straight forward without having to go through this process of using CHKDSK to get a fix for an image that should be runnig smoothly. Any other advice is welcome.

Unfortunately, I'm not heavily experienced with Zenworks imaging, however by going to Novell's product support forums and searching with "imaging blue screen" under the management products I did find numerous folks with similar issues. This was one solution someone tried for XP, but I suspect it would work for 2000. Sounds like you do CHKDSK like the article suggests, then create a new image with the CHKDSKed PC.

Anyway read this, or try the Novell support forum as it looks like tons of people have had your problem:

I was having the blue screening after bringing down an WinXP(NTFS) image.
This is what I did to get it working: Had Zen 3.2 w/Cool Solutions patch
plus all the imaging pieces from the Zd32nw.exe patch from Novell. I then
downloaded my bad image, the PC blue screened with the 0x00000024 error.
Stuck in the WinXP CD and booted to the recovery console. At the C:
prompt, I just entered CHKDSK. Reboot the PC and make another image of the
PC. Bring this image down and you will get the little message asking you
if you want to boot in safe mode or not, just let the screen sit there and
about 5 secs. it defaults to booting normally. Everything came up fine. I
tested this on a Dell GX115 and Dell GX240. We also use a Sysprep image
but I don't see why it wouldn't work on other images. I had opened up a
ticket with Novell and obviously I got the standard "we don't support
WinXP imaging on Zen 3.2".
