Unhappy Fail the test few hrs ago.

Hello folks I went for the test 3 hrs ago and fail.....I thought I pass but no on Microsoft opinion. The test was harder than I espected.I was confident answering my question for which I took my sweet time but at the end my result were sad.

I read 3 books[passport, examcram and osborne(review only)]in about 3 weeks but I didn't have any hand on experience on permission, policies, disk management, remote and unattended instalations which were the biggest amount of Q on the test.

I'm capable of memorizing almost everything I read but that's NOT the rule on Microsoft test......instead do the following strategic and will get you there....

"My suggestion is to move from tehorical learning to practical learning and you will pass"....like I will next time.

If some has used the CD-ROM video base training from http://learn4.serebra.com/cert21/index.cfm
please let me know about your esperience with it.

That's it... keep going for it... don't give up . I wouldn't give much attention to those exam cram types of books. It is better to try and learn the stuff, especially for your own self, rather than just for a cert. I would suggest the Cisco Press books, or Mark Minasi, or both would be better. I heard the Sybex books are good too. At the same time, browsing and actuall studying the resource tools on the internet are good resources too at microsoft dot com.

What a bummer, but heads up.
Your bound to pass next time.
I would set up a lab and do the exercises.
With a lab to use along with the books
you will have it nailed.
My worst fear is failing, I actually get sick before an exam, so I make sure I won't be taking it twice.
Good Luck

Unlucky.
But keep trying, get yourself an Evaluation Edition and Practice everything until you do it with your eyes closed.
I learned from the Microsoft Press Books, they had the Evaluation Copy with them and Plenty of Practice Exercises

If you could simply memorize all the material in 3 weeks walk in and pass...what kind of acomplishment would that be? what would be the point? im suprised that through your studies you didnt feel a need to actually implement anything. This doesnt have anything to do with luck. You treated this with no respect and you reaped such reward.

If this ruffles your feathers (or anyone elses)...good

I have purchased the entire MCSE pack from Serebra for $99. They're pretty good.. no videos but thats not really necessary. Some of the issues covered and tested are pretty lame but thats rare; mostly they're very informative and very detailed .. only question is.. will you remember?

Also you should try the CBT nuggets videos if you have the money.

Most important is to invest in practice tests. While most of us know we can perform the job (with a little research), in order to pass a TEST it is important to bombard your mind with scenarios, which tests are perfect for.

I took my MCP and failed by one question.

I studied rock solid for two weeks, and took it again.

BAM! Failed again.

I didn't try again for two reasons: 1. The money. At £75 per exam, I couldn't afford to try again. 2. My confidence had gone.

I'm going to go for it, hopefully, this summer and pass.

My advice to anyone taking (or retaking) it is to keep trying and keep studying. It knocks your confidence for six, but it'll be worth it in the end.

By the way, I'd just finished an intensive 6week course, so I think all that info just confuzzled me a little.

Anyhoo, to anyone taking it, keep going!
