How do I send a resume!?!?
Ok. I admit this is kind of a silly question.
The last time I was looking for a job, you printed out a resume and you put it in an envelope with a cover letter and mailed to a hiring manager. Im not that old (32). So maybe its just that I am currently switching fields to one where you are expected to know and utilize technology.
So here are my questions...
When a hiring manager requests that you "email your resume", are they typically expecting you to send it as an attatched file, or just cut and paste it into the body of the email? Whats the standard format?
I spent so much time making my resume pretty with fonts and bold faced text, ect. If I cut and paste it, all that is lost in an email. Also the spacing and indentation gets all out of wack. As a result my resume that I spent so much time on just looks like crap.
I have also encountered company websites that provide a place to "cut and paste your resume". I obviously come from the old school of thought that your resumes appearance counts as much as the content. Otherwise it looks like you just dont care.
What is the standard procedure?
