Because when people get to the electives, they spread out a lot. Many people are only going to take one design exam. Hence, it gets real thin up here.
Hey if you want to go for 220, you know I'll be there for you!

I was wondering with the new flavor of security being what it is and since I don't have any electives taken yet. Ya think it would be better to take 214 and 220 to try and distinguish myself from the rest of the mcse's. that would leave me 216, 214,220

First off, it's good that you would consider something along the lines of security.
I noticed on the MCP magazine site that their MCP Database has a check box for MCP Security. I assume that refers to 214.
How much will your choices differentiate you from other MCSE, in an employers mind? Even with security being a huge key-word in the employment market, I don't think Microsoft has put enough together exam-wise in terms of security to make it recognizable as a 'security' certificate.
Would you be better off by having this knowledge? Yes!.
However, both the 214 and 220 combined only scratch the surface, compared to the issues we face day to day on security. But it's a great start.
From an exam standpoint, you will be working with a lot of key concepts that are common to 216, 214, 220. IP Sec, Encryption, Authentication, Certificate Services, just to name a few will be covered on all three.
Should you do it? I took 220 as part of my MCSE and took the 214 beta after I got my MCSE. I liked the 214, because it brought a lot of fresh information not covered in the 220. My gut feeling is that you would find 220 pretty dang easy after taking 214 and might be better off taking 219 for AD design exposure. That may depend entirely on your background experience and how familiar you are with AD.
So I would heartily recommend 214, you have to take 216, the other one is up to you.
Personally, I think you will benefit most by tackling 216 first, take your time and really get a handle on it. This will help you with 214 and 220.

I think 220 has still not been updated, at least I have heard it still gives a score. For me 214 was more difficult in two ways:
a) I took the beta, 90 questions is just flat out a lot of questions.
b) Like 216, 214 goes alot more in depth on a lot more topics compared to 220.
If you wanted to know which to take between the two I would say 214.
