"Quering Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL"

I am considering doing the 70-228 course, "Administering a
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Database". The course number is
2072A. Is there a further course, "Quering Microsoft SQL
Server Transact-SQL" course number 2071B that I must also
do as well in order to pass the 70-228 exam. Would be very
grateful for a reply.

You do not need to take any course in order to take (and hopefully
pass) this exam.

The important issue is to understand the topics covered in the exam
prep guide.

I'm sure these courses are very good, but you need to make sure you
get what you expect from the (or any) course. If the point of the
courses is to teach only the topics covered in the exams, then the
course (to me anyway) others limit value.

The letter A refers to the revision of the course. First revision is A. Microsoft SQL server is presented in three courses. 2071B (second revision) is Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Transact-SQL. This covers the basics of T-SQL and it is usually a two day course. It is listed as a prerequitie of the 2072 course but if you know anything about SQL you can take 2072 without it. The third course is 2073A programming a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Database. In a rough way the 2072 course corresponds to the 70-228 exam and 2073 corresponds to the 70-229 exam. The courses do NOT cover everything you need for either exam. There is also a lot of overlap on the two exams. If you do the course route you might want both 2072 and 2073 before you take either exam.
