Its Great that you Passed/Failed
Not to start trouble or anything but I am finding fewer posts with actual information. Its great to hear about a PASS and people moving forward with their certification quest, but I would hope to see more content about topics covered on the test or any tips, advice and facts.
I appreicate this site and everything it has to offer, lets not make this a "Back Slapping" web page full of congrats.. let's all continue to make this the best site on the internet full of content and discussion. I am willing to throw my 1.5 cents in the ring on anything/everything...
I am taking the 217 exam today and after reading just the top 5 posts here, I have found that it lasts anywhere between 1:50 mins and 2 hours and has either 43 or 49 question.... pretty weak.
I plan on posting soon after I pass the test... hope my information

Why not utilize the Search function and see if anyone has previously posted some information on the exam relevant to what you are looking for?
That's what I do.
Best of luck on your exam!

Passed..
passed the 217 test yesterday...
The test was 43 questions long, nothing new to report. Multiple questions on DNS.. study how to intergrate a WinNT40 DNS server into a Win2k Structure, also look into the UNIX Bind 8.2 into the Active Directory DNS Scheme.
Remember that Unix BIND 8.2 supports Zone Transfers but will not support it secure, it will support incremental. NT 4.0 only supports Full Zone Transfers.. Forgive me if my spelling is bad, been drinking a bit.
The test overall was probably the easiest so far or equal to the 218 test. If you have good knowledge of the 216 test, you won't have a problem at all.
No questions on WINS, or Installing. Make a few notes on when to do an Authoritive and NON Authoritive Directory Service Restore. Bill is moving users to a OU while Jane is Deleting the same OU on a differnet DC.. what happens? Look in the LOST and FOUND..
Understand the difference between using the IP Site Connection and using a SMTP. There will be at least 2 questions. SMTP site connection will be used on low bandwidth and unrealiable links. "Store and Forward", also remember that SMTP will require a CA on the network!
There was one easy question on Permission Inheritance but nothing to sweat.
I think that most of the questions dealt with DNS and different scenerios..
I used Transender to study for this, and I think that they did a get job on everything, Highly Recommended.
Well I am tired and a little buzzed.. hope this post helps someone..
FYI: Please help keep this site the best and post as much information as legaly possible.

Good info
Well done on passing this exam ScratchOne and I agree with your post on the lack of information in some of these posts. Your summary of the exam was very good especially considering the application of alcohol!
Was there anything much on Operation Masters?

I feel a little better today, hung over most if it..lol
Thanks everyone for the Congrats.. Much appreciated..
yes, there were two questions on Operations Masters. Very Easy question ... basically they asked how you transfer the roles..
The other question throws a loop at you... they Put a Member Server in the scenerio and they want you to promote it to a DC and take over as the GC. DCPROMO this server, transfer the Role over then DCPROMO on the original GC to demote it.
Oh yeah, something else.. Remember that if you have a domain name longer than 15 characters, NETBIOS for downlevel Server (NT), only see the first 15 charcters..
Meaning the if you have a domain named onceuponatimeinhistory.com and want to add the name onceuponatimeinamerica.com, they look the same to netbios and they won't let you add this tree to your forest.
Anybody else have a question? I am feeling in a good mood now. Send away and I'll try to get back to ya... who knows, you may just make me remeber something else to post. I can't and won't post the exact question but I will try to make it simular.
Good luck to ya all..

Congratulations
ScratchOne,
Congratulations! Sorry, I'm late for the party hum?
For those who plan to take 217, I must say, your post is very accurate.
P.S. I try to write on all the info that I can. But, I have the language barrier, you know non-english speaker, living in a non-english speaker country. But, deja vue is right too. When I pass an exam is like a home run! Or a goal in the World Cup. And some info are lost in the excitement...
