Slooooooooow file transfers
Ok here goes. Hopefully somebody here can help with this one. I have an HP Kayak XA. It has dual P2 450’s 392 meg’s ram and 3 40 gig drives. I am currently running Win 2k advanced server. Yesterday I was rebuilding my laptop and needed to transfer all my files over to the HP. Well all was fine for a few hours then my throughput went down to nothing. I was running XP on my laptop and looked at the network connection in task manager and it went from using 50% of my bandwidth to .5%. We used to use these in an engineering office and the designers complained about this so much we had to pull them. It originally shipped with a SCSI network / controller card with SCSI drives. I now run a 3 com nic and IDE drives. My internal data transfer is fine. I backed up 25 gig with veritas to a third drive and got over 500 meg a min transfer rate. Strange things are afoot at the circle K. Once you reboot it is fine…for a while. Any ideas?
