| I know this isn't about Apple Certs but I don't think I would get a response in the other forums.
I have an LC550 that lost it's SCSI HDD so I replaced it with a known good one. The good HDD booted up fine in OS 7.5., so I used Disk Tools to initialize the disk. It seemed to take a lot longer than it normally does to format a 160 MB HDD, and it did not change the name of the HDD when it was done.
I rebooted using the 7.5 install floppies (this is the OS for this machine) and I get the happy mac for a minute, then a sad mac and the bad startup chime.
I tried to re-initialize more than once and reboot but to no avail.
My plan tomorrow is to try another set of startup disks and see if that works.
If anyone has any other ideas, please share them. Thanks in advance.
