A little bit of help?

| Hey everyone. My dearest mother thinks she can fix my computer's difficulties by hiring some man to come out here. Apparently he's going to check my hard drive and everything. I don't want her to find a few things on it (for example: my livejournal, all these stupid porn popups that appear frequently on my computer, and various other things)... I did a Compaq "Factory Restore" on the computer, which says it restores my entire computer to factory condition.
Sooo here's my question: Does that erase all the information off of my hard drive? Can the computer guy still get in there and see it? If so, how can I wipe my hard drive clean of that?
I'm on Windows XP, if that helps. This is quite urgent.

| Technically he could still see it, but that is only if you authorize him to do a data recovery. You data will not be visible on the surface (i.e. while going through My Computer) but it is still there and can be recovered with software (usually). If the information is backed up else where or is not needed then don't allow him to do data recovery. Your other option would be to consult a forum filled with a few computer geeks (such as this one) and see if they can help you with your current computer difficulties. Just make sure you let them know everything about the problem that you know. | |

| Just reformat your HD if u don't want people to know.... or delete all the files........... | |

| Most recovery discs do reformat your hard drive, and reformatting does not get rid of data if they use data recovery tools. | |

Any data that has not been overwritten (sp?) can potentially be recovered.
The porno pop ups are from you visiting porn sites and they installed a bunch of adware/spyware on your computer.
But even if someone doing maintenance on your computer sees all of that, do you really think he/she will go back to your mother and say "Your son looks at porno websites."

| You need to get spyware removal software like Spybot Search and Destroy or AD-Aware both free.
You could also get google toolbar for Internet Explorer which has a pop up blocker.
or get Mozilla Firefox Browser Also free to download.
After you format Defrag your drive a few times makes harder to recover data .
Stop going to naughty sites.

| The computer guy is probably not going to bring data recovery tools to your home. But if requested he will take the HD to his shop to work on.
Better than a format is to delete the partition.
|
| first get cwshredder located here
http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
it gets rid of the cool websearch which allows the porn sites to pop up even with pop up blockers installed
download Avg or someother virus program
download popup cop or someother pop up program
save any and all info you want to keep to a disc dvd or cd
delete partion format harddrive then run a test program that writes 0's and 1's or your hard drive to test writing ability then delete partion again format again should be fairly clean after that.but it depends on how good of recovery program he uses too. think that the recommended process for government is to write over thriteen times .

Ok lets see if I get this right!
Your mom is calling a (computer guy) technician, to come to your house $$$ and see if he can fix your computer that is running sooo slow. am i right so far ???
well chances are that if you have performed a factory re-install and run the other programs that are sugguested above. You should have no problems.
although I get alot of calls from parents who want to know what their kids have been doing and its not always nice to let them know.
Question to you though. Is the computer still running slow after the factory re-install of all software???
if so then you probably have a few driver problems(most likely )culprit (usually).
Like they say above stop hitting the porn sites and slaping your sausage.Get a girlfriend try going outside once in a while.
(start being really really good and she may forgive you)
