| Hello,
I travelled and came back only to find out that my curious brother has bisetted my sys. making it to be running terribly slow. Later i discovered he has changed my cpu clock rate instead of 100 x7 =700Mhz he put 450Mhz. Although i've changed it back yet is still running vey very slow

| Try flashing the BIOS and find out what else your brother changed. | |

| did your brother do alot of downloading off of the peer networks? You could be bombarded with spyware. Run msconfig and see what services and programs are running at startup and delete those that seem suspicious. Just be careful that you are very confident in what you are doing in the msconfig files. | |

| Good heavens! Was it overclocked already & he just set it back to normal?
It would sound like something didn't reset in XP after you changed the BIOS clock back.
|
| Well u should add more detail such, amount of RAM and Program those running, and graphics card. try task manager (alt + ctrl + del) to find out what programs are running. now check the amount of CPU usage. i don't think 700Mhz and 450 Mhz make such kind of huge difference. also check the virtual memory. | |
|
| Do an Anti-Virus Check and an Anti-Spyware check as these are symptons of either a Virus or Spyware. If any system runs extremely slow these are the first things to do. | |

| damn, i dont feel as bad at first, you are only running a 700mhz machine? its slow as it is! dump that rig and get something real, 1.5 and up, sell the dirty bastard brother that p.o.s. and put down for a real rig! | |

| Hey, ill take that 700! My fastest computer is a Celeron 466. That thing runs half-life 1 at 640x480 SO SMOOTH man! its great.
lol!
Well, the first thing i do to a slow computer is run Ad-aware SE. Nice FREE program. You can get it at www.download.com i think.
Then, i'll reset the mobo. THEN, if it still isn't running good ill just format the hard drive and reinstall the os. Try Ad-aware, see if it helps!

| One of the possible causes is that there are may be programs that are loading and running on the background. to make things worse, a virus could also be creeping on your system. THe 700 and 450 issue isn't really the case here cause you wont see any difference between these two speeds. Check those programs! | |

| yes, that very well could be the cause. Either a virus or ad-ware... Please let us know how it turns out! | |

Hijack this, has got to be one of the best programs. It is so simple but it, but it is so freaking great. Anyways, it sucks that we even need programs like that. Adware and spyware piss me off more than any virus ever has. |
