I have a VIA mobo with a 1.8G Celeron processor. The board supports both PC100/133 and PC2100DDR. I have a 128MB PC2100 DDR DIMM, but XP only recognizes 63MB?
I bought the cheap $19.99 special that is compatable with only certain VIA chipsets. What could be wrong?

I have memory problems too.

I can't remember who I screwed over on the network, so I don't know who to avoid at work.

oops, different type of memory... nevermind.

there is two differnt type of ram now
so one of the ram might be not fit with your motherbord. i forgot other name but one of type of ram is ddr so you want to chack what kind of ram you bought and make sure that they are the same one that can work with motherbord.

i hop this help you.

...hummm. First off, XP HAS TO HAVE 128MB to even operate, so if u only had 63, you'd have issues. Second, (I REALLY don't wanna sound like an XXXXXXX here, please don't take offense), with PC parts, u get what u pay for. U prob would have been better off spending tha xtra 10-15 bucks for some better RAM. Third, DDR operates @ 266, 333, & 400MHz, not 100,133MHz...although there are some boards out there that will differentiate between the two (VIA being one of them). Try flashing/updating ur mobo BIOS (but be VERY careful...u can cause a lot of damage and headache), that might take care of the problem.

i have worked on a lot of computers with built in AGP video and i have never seen the memory count or memory size reduced because of it.

try some other memory in it. you might have a partially burned out memory slot.

also minimum system requirements for XP is 64 MB of RAM.
