It's a Dell Inspiron 9100. Brand new off ebay for around $1,100. 3.2GHZ Pentium 4, 512MB DDR 3200 RAM, dvi, firewire, dvd writer, radeon graphics. Only cons I have read about it are battery life which is only about 1 hour and 26 mins and size; it's about 9 pounds. Those two things aren't that big of a deal to me. Dell does sell a 16 cell battery upgrade which should help with the battery life.

Sounds like a good deal. I've used Dell, IBM, and Compaq over the last 6 years. I think Dell is the best.

Yeah I would like it to be smaller and have better battery life, but you can't have everything.

My first laptop of my own was a Compaq Armada 4220T. It died, so i got another one...

Then just recently i sold that and bought a Toshiba Tecra PII 366mhz. I payed WAY too much for it though... It was suposed to have a DVD drive so i thought 250 was an ok price so i bought it... IT DIDN'T! The guy only gave me 15 bux back and i left nuteral feedback.

THEN i bought a new battery only to find that it wouldn't charge and discovered that the power supply was bad! Other than these problems though i love this laptop. Its a bit heavy, but its VERY sturdy unlike my Compaq...

Man,
With all those qualifications under your belt, I find it very hard to believe that it is only now that you decide to buy yourself a laptop pc.
Man, no pc techie ever goes through 3 desktops in their lives without a laptop to their name somewhere between.

I bow my head in shame. However, one of the reasons is laptops are/were more expensive than desktops and people like myself like to build their desktops.

There's not a lot to be ashamed of.
Laptops are playthings anyway.
Industry values individuals who can demonstrate an ability to build more than experience itself anyway.

Pity I do not fall into that category.

Ahhh yes... building your own computer is cool. Maybe we will be able to do that with laptops someday?

Laptops? Playthings? um, ok... My laptop is my primary computer i only use my desktop for printing, gaming and burning cds.

Don't misunderstand me Joelacrane.
My laptop is not only my primary pc but it is also my only computer.
I do not use it for playing games and refer to pc's as playthings because they can be very addictive.
Anything that is addictive or potentially so to me is a plaything.

Today is the present, tomorrow is the future, yesterday was the past.
Whatever one person is thinking, another is already working on it, .
