Plextor just came out with the 8X DVD-R Drive, that burns DVD's of both Formats.

The Price looks good, too ($246.00)

Nice specs but I wonder why -R only works at 4X. I hope there is not something so different that -R will not see as much of a speed increase in the future.

Required minimum system specs are a killer too. P3 at 700MHz plus 6 gig of disk space to author. I guess they need a gig or so for indexing. Minimum probably means that you really need 900MHz+ and 10 gig free. That leaves out putting it in a couple year old spare system. The interesting one is the monitor, 1024 x 786 but only 16 colors, must be very strange software.

I was almost ready to jump on that but I think I will wait for a review or two.

DAMN!

Minimum Systems Requirements
CPU: PentiumŪ III 700MHz or above.

I just made it by 200MHz

My DVD burner at work is choppy at 800MHz (133 bus).
