| how could you make your PC silent for a cheap price?
and taking the fans out is not an option.

| Maybe look into liquid cooling solutions. Probably not "cheap" though. | |

| I got a big Server in the Corner of my Lab.
(Win2003 Server), full Server Tower, 12 Drive-Bays, dual redundant Power-supplies, 700 Gigs on hot-swap Raid, the Works...
When i started that darn thing, it sounded like a Jet-Engine.
So i went to Home-Depot and got myself some Waterheater Insulation.
It is a roll of about half an inch insulation material, one side is Aluminumfoil; the other side is some kind of cloth-material.
Anyways, i took the Case apart, and cut the Material to fit each Panel. Then used Contact-Cement to glue the Insulation to the Panel, leaving some room on the edges to accomplish a tight fit between the Panels, as they go back together.Remember to leave some room for Air-Circulation.
This took me about 3 Hours and a mere $12.00 to finish, but oh, what a difference!
The F15 Jetfighter-roar turned into a quiet whisper, and the Temperature inside the Case only went up about 5%.
Well worth a try.
Note:
There is some pretty awesome super-quiet Power-supplies available, but i did not want to give up the hot-swap-powersuplies.
If you insist, i may post some Pictures of that Beast in the Future.

You did a real good job putting the insulation in, I may try that myself. Thinks for the info.

| Special low-noise power supplies and cooling fans are available, and are popular with builders of home theater PCs (HTPCs).
Exotice PC or Digital Connection should carry them.
