XP not recognising my CD drives
|
|
|
| I have recently got a Asus mobo A7N8X-X, Athon 2400, 1/2GB of ram. I have installed XP on the system, but it does not recognised my cd & CDRW drives. I can see them on the device manager option but they have the exclamation mark on them.
I know that they work with XP due to having them on my old PC.
Should I be looking at updating BIOS, because I cannot find any drivers on the net that are compatible with XP.
(CD drive - Creative Labs. CDRW drive - Freecom). | |

| Did you see what error codes they where displaying in device manager. | |

| No need to update the BIOS.
Since you installed XP mostlikely with them, they should work.
Could be that you need updated Drivers for the IDE-Channels or for the Chipset on the Board.
I would start in Safe-mode, un-install as many Devices as you can and then re-start, letting XP "re-shuffle" all the Hardware-devices and IRQ's and automatically re-install them.
Try to un-plug Cards like Sound, NIC, Raid, SCSI and others, you don't need right now.
worth a try. |
