What is the best Voice-recognition Software?

I am looking for a voice-recognition software for a Customer, one that does it all:
Opening and closing Windows, re-start, open, create and delete documents, etc.
Anyone has good/bad experiences to share?

I like to know.

I assume that he/she does not like the one that comes with office XP? There is really only Dragon and the one from IBM because of restrictive patents. The phd couple that did Dragon got into some sort of legal trouble much like Enron. The core of Dragon is what is in Office XP Lernerd and Hauske (spelling)

The one in windows does dictation and voice commands for the things that you mentioned. Remember however that applications must be voice enabled most are not except for windows itself its utilities and office. The file menu for most programs does work. For dictation unless you have lots of memory you will get discouraged fast. Even if you do, you quickly find out that 99 percent accuracy means 1 word out of 100 will be wrong.

Get a cold or a sore throat and it could become unusable. It really takes several months of use for the accuracy to get to 99 percent, you start at about 90-95 percent. I sometimes use it to enter messages into the forums and it shows with little things, of becomes or, and becomes an etc.

I have a sore throat now so I can not use it. Murphy said this would happen, school starts tomorrow and I will be lecturing most of the day.

Bottom line is that you must become dedicated to its use because casual use is not worth the trouble. It also eliminates room noise, not music, tv, dogs barking, birds singing or talking. You would be surprised at what screwy words show up in your text.
