Just got myself a new CD Re-writer with a USB cable for use on my laptop pc and I want to know basically how to burn up a CD. Those of the kind of the free cd's that you sometimes get in shops. Just want to know how to turn them into rewritable CD's please...

Get a burning program like Nero or EasyCD Creator. There's more, but those are the two most popular.

he is actually asking how to turn free aol etc cd into usable rewritable cd... to *burn up*, *free cd*,*turn them into*

anyway. as far as nero vs cd creator, as first timer, he should just stick with whatever software that is included with the burner, no need to complicate the issue.

I have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 installed. That's what came with my re-writer.

Mikop knows what I am talking about judging by his (or her) words. I've messed around with it a little but better to hear from the pro's than to go too far...

I'm sorry to say this but you CANT.

these discs are written by manually etching the pits/valleys 0's and 1's into teh disc....

a cd-re-write drive just simulates this and thus can be reburned by simply applying it to the disc.

there is NO way of re-writng on these discs... Ive tried it.

Sorry Deja, you really need to get a sense of Humour, I have tried not to flood this forum with jokes, and deviation but if you're gonna take offence at the odd one which is an observation on the original post, i might just change my mind and keep you busy

Princessangry,
Don't understand your response

Sir Frank Deja,
Your link with CD Creator was perfect. Thanks

Everybody else,
Sorry for my ignore message. I had problems with my pc so in order to keep my link alive, posted that. I've got another pc. Let's see how things go. The one I'd been having problems with had been a second hand one ruined initially by installing Windows 2000 and formatting with NTFS where I barely understood the operating system. Now I am doing A+
