ruscorp,
All you need to do in Windows 2000/XP is create a file called OEMINFO.INI and enter the custom info you want on the System Properties screen. Then you find the picture you want to use and name it OEMLOGO.BMP. That's all there is to it. You don't need a special program! Then you place these two files in the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder. Naturally you'll need to resize the picture to fit the way you like. Here are two samples for you. Extract the files to your C:\WINNT(or WINDOWS)\SYSTEM32 folder & check them out. Customize them the way you want them & check out the results.

| Well I guess the file didn't attach last time. Go figure. Here goes again... | |
|
| Shoot there is no need for a program to do this - I have been branding systems for about 8 years.
You need 2 files.
a. Oemlogo.bmp - 182W x 114H. Use PrtScr to capture your system properties box and paste into MS Paint. Using the color picker you can get the background color formula to match for your new logo background.
b. Oeminfo.ini - With notepad enter your info as below.
[General]
Manufacturer=Rusted Nuts Creations
Model=Athlon Game Machine
[Support Information]
Line1=Rusted Nuts Creations
Line2=07-555 95474
Line3=www.rustednuts.com
Line4=put as many lines as
Line5=you like!
Save the file as Oeminfo.txt and then rename to Oeminfo.ini.
For Win98 the 2 files "Oemlogo.bmp" and "Oeminfo.ini" are placed in the C:\Windows\System folder.
For W2K the files, "Oemlogo.bmp" and "Oeminfo.ini" are placed in the C:\WINNT\System32 folder.
Of course this is if you load the OS in the standard C location - otherwise use your own default.
If you have purchased an OEM machine then these files will probably already be there c/- Dell, Compaq or whoever.

get a DELL computer on a company on USA, put your OEM data and try with a lawyer company and you will see....
|
| Only if you tried to pass it off as your system .... I think the Dell case would be a dead giveaway .... lol
Besides what techie would buy an OEM machine anyways? I can see that for newbies, but as long as you can build a machine with at least 25% better performance (minimum) for at least 25% less (prolly 50%) then one would have to be a mug

| Now that is very cool. thanks Deja-vue. | |

Dell is different, it's a computer company. That would violate your agreement. However if your system was built for you, by you. You may do as you please. You are not breaking the law by putting your name on your on system [built by you].

| I should do that to my server. | |
| Deja-vue 2003-08-05, 11:23 pm |
| I put that logo in any machine i built. ( about 450 or so ).
I have never used the Program, just did it manually, just like Tech Shark described it.
I just thought it will be fun to get the program to people and have them figure it out. It is still a cool way to customize.
