Maxtor Fireball 3 question

| Hello
I have a 30GB Maxtor drive, that was erroneously configured by a user. The user wiped it, and was repartitioned. Now when I see the drive in either FDisk, Delpart, Diamondmax.exe, Windows, or Partition Magic. it comes up as DMA Mode 4.7GB, and that is all that is shown. Working drives show UDMA, and the 30 GB. I think the user used delpart and changed the drives FAT. Perhaps even low-level formatted the drive (Yikes!!!) The small partition works well, but I need the rest of the drive. Any ideas???

Check the BIOS settings.
What OS are you using? | |

| I've tried all possible settings on three different Bios'. I even put the CHS values in manually, still no dice. The OS doesn't matter, but it was 2000/2003. The drive cannot be seen in anything but LBA/DMA mode. | |

| Go to maxtors web site and get their disk utility package. If it was erroneously low leveled the package should correct it with a proper lowlevel. It will also diagnose the drive. The file that you are looking for is Powermax. They will ask you to run it anyway before they RMA it. | |

| I already tried that, and subscribed to some of the help forums on maxtor's site. Maybe they'll know. The drive is still hosed after a proper low level format.
Thanks... | |

| you havent done anything unusual like install Linux have you?
if so, then try doing "fdisk /mbr" command in DOS.
a linux partition is invisible to the fdisk command. |
