Is your BIOS set to autodetect the Drives?
when you pulled the 160 and re-installed the 30, it could be that the BIOS now "thinks", the 30 gig is still in there.
Check to make sure.
If all fails, clear the CMOS and start over.
let us know.

have you tried cable select jumper on HDD

also you may need to flash BIOS.

just checking lol

just know that WDs are picky with jumper settings.

just another thought how old is mobo and dose it support above 137GB limit.

check molex connector for power try another molex connector

try drive in anopther PC see if it powers up and gets detected by BIOS

if don't power up drive is probably dead.

like nobby said...check the power connectors..you might have loosened something while swapping. it's the last thing you check sometimes. i've done it a few times swapping drives....loosen the connector just the slightest bit and computer says i don't want to boot today. either that or you may have fried the drive swapping it around. you said you already checked the ide cables and cmos settings. hopefully you have better luck with your new drive....just as long as you didn't return the other one setup with windows and your p0rn collection.
