HI Everyone.

1st of all thanks for this site, it give you great studing point of view. I have passed the new exams in this order: PIX, CSVPN, and yesterday IDS 4.0 (I think I am doing it backwards). Anyway All the studing tips where taken from this site. I studied from the cisco selfstudy guides and from their website.

I have ordered the SECUR and SAFE self studing guides and so far still not published. Does anyone have a Link or a doc I can start to read for the SECUR exam, I will help in my previous exams experiences.

my email is mariocabrejo@yahoo.com

I am preping for 642-541 exam. From my studies I have seen that the bulk of the material is covered in the SAFE Small, Midsize, and Remote-User Networks document. Read it for detail...apendix b and c as well.

I've also brushed up on the currnet appliance specs for all the models and reviewed installation and setup document for most of the equipment.

You might also want to check out the ipsec document put out by cisco.

Hi Locaso

I prepared for the SECUR using
-Sybex "Securing Cisco IOS Network" which covers 90% of the material
-Used cisco.com for the few topics not covered above
-Boson router test

and passed easily :-)

I have a few questions on the CSIDS 642-531:
-Were there any simulations?
-Are the exam using IDS4.x "IOS style" CLI or the IDS3.x commands sysconfig-sensor, idsvers, idsstatus etc.?

Which Boson's SECUR test is better? #1 or #2?
I'd like to buy one, but not both
In my opinion, #2 looks more adequate (I have failed MCNS in February), but I'm not sure.

Cisco just release the Secur Study Guide last week. Look on the website under the CCSP-secur objective and their bookstore. At the bottom of the page.

About the exam:

It is all about v4.0 (forget about your notes and any material from v3.0, its old technology). The simulation questions I got where:

1. How to do the following using CLI:
a. backup a current config to an ftp server, using password, and directory location
b. view all users
c. change privilege to one user
d. reset the http signature
e. delete service account

2. Remove the default allowed hosts from the ids and add only the host that they give you.

Good luck

I'm glad to hear it

I've passed WLANSE, so I can start CCSP now (I have much more time now ).
Are the Configuration Guides (IOS 12.2 & 3 security configuration guides) at Cisco's site, some practice, and Hands-on Lab (from Knowledge.Net) sufficient to pass SECUR exam?

I don't want to cheat, use things such testking. I just want to earn knowledge, and try to pass related exams

Best regards,
Senser

Senser,

I used Boson #1, some relevent MCNS labs, the Sybex guide and PDFs from cisco for reference. I took the test Wednesday and scored a 967.

Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cisco_CCSP/ for some good study notes.

Hi Guys
Can anyone suggest what lab questions I'm likey to get on the SECUR exam?

Thanks
locaso

I do not know why you could not connect to the router, but they have like 4 different ways how to connect to it(telnet, terminal, other and other, you have to go and try one by one as long as is the right interface).

I also could not answer the IKE question, I sent a complaint to cisco because the stupid router did not want to accept some commands, for that simulation question, was saying something like "not supported command for this IOS".

Anyways.....Keep studing man.

Also just passed the CCIE Security Qualification exam today. I highly recomend any that just finished the CCSP, keep more time studying and get the CCIE before the blueprint changes. Will take the lab in a couple of months....

I am looking for some Study buddys for this lab exam in the South Jersey area, so that we can share some equipment and do some labs.
