Anyone taken this exam yet? I am taking it Monday, yep tomorrow...

I have passed all the old exams the 9E0 level and I am updating my CCSP status. I have passed PIX and VPN. Gona save SECUR for my last one... should be easy.

Hi didierd,

I'm wondering if you have any study guides/notes from your exam that you can share with me. I have passed 4 exams (642-xxx) so far and just registered to take 643-531 beta this Dec 5. Any help would be appreciated.
I've been reading docs on CCO about IDS 4.1,IDM, IMC but there's so much to read. Just wonder if there's a concise document that I can use to stay focused on the objectives.

I'm reading all 7000 PDF ebooks from Cisco's site, I have the official courseware (which is like reading "War and Peace" and "Gone With The Wind" all rolled into one set of books), and anything else I can come across. I'm still not sure I'll be focused enough on any given topic because there's so much to read. Any advice?

I took the 643-531 and failed by ~1 question

According to Cisco it is now too late to register for the beta exam.

As for the curriculum you should follow the outlines on cisco.com.

The more unexpected questions I got was on:
-IEV GUI
-MC Security GUI
-User roles

I just registered for the 643-531 beta yesterday. I'll be taking it this Thursday (1/8/04). I wonder when they're going to release the final version? Has anyone heard? I'm building a Franken IDS here shortly...if I fail the exam, maybe that will help me the 2nd time around.

Hi to all,

I passed the beta exam a couple of weeks ago,

Study only and all v4.0:

Ids mc, IDS sec.monitor, ids e.viewer, CLI, Signatures, and more
I read the Cisco Course 4.0 book at least 3 times.
It was very hard, I though that I would failed but passed. testking was no help at all, questions all new.

I am going for secur this weekend, looks very easy....

I failed the beta, then took it again the very next day (today) and passed. Both exams were insanely tough...tougher than any other exam in the CCSP group in my humble opinion. testking was worthless except for learning the simulators, the 3.x Boson was worthless. The official courseware is VERY good and basically essential to passing. It's 2 huge books full of 100's of details...all of which are tested. Just when you think you know a topic, they hit you from the side. Know IDS MC, IEV 4.0, Security Monitor, IDM, and Signatures WELL. They ask the most detailed, rediculous questions and I didn't have 2 questions the same (except the simulators) on either exam....must be a big pool of questions. I would expect that this exam will be everyone's new nightmare. My advice: take it while it's a beta and only costs $50....so that you can retake it as many times as necessary to pass. :-D

I have 2 questions that you might be able to help me with:

1) I too failed the 643-531. After that I contacted Cisco Certification Support and they told me that I couldn't retake the test as it is a beta.
I guess you've got a different reply?

2) I've been trying to obtain a copy of the CSIDS v4.0 course material but has not succeeded. Any hints?

Thanks for the info. I just posted about this on another thread in this forum. I don't know why Prometric would let me retake this exam, unless it was a computer glitch.

When you attempted to retake the exam, did you call Prometric to reschedule or did you try to reschedule through the website?

What contact info do you have for Cisco Certification Support? Please post it here.

I have a printed copy of the courseware, and since it's the only decent resource out there for this exam, I'm going to have to hold onto it...it was $275 (yuck).
