HTTP Authentication is when you access a website, the website prompt you to enter username and password (usually use SSL protocol).

Virtual HTTP is when you configure your Pix firewall so that when a user on the inside try to access a website on the Internet or establish a connection to the internet (can be anything eg. telnet etc...) the Pix prompt you to enter the Username and Password. If you are an Authorised Users (eg. the Pix verify its local database or Tacacs+ server database). The Pix will create a session and allow you to get out as normal. This is similar to Virtual Telnet but it use HTTP instead.

thanks a lot for your concern. let me clarify my question.

PIX can authenticate in terms of http, ftp and telnet. Right? I know the difference between virtual telnet authentication in PIX and telnet authentication in PIX but I could't figure out the difference between virtual http authentication in PIX and http authentication in PIX. Am I clear now?
