Simulations in SAFE Exam !!
|
|
|
| I have seen many threads about problems faced during the SAFE simulation exams.
I did the exam today and here is my input. (a bit long but might be helpful)
it might be the exact same simulation that we are all getting or it could be different. to keep it short, What I would suggest is to read the question very carefully. here is what happened to me:
in my case, I directly jumped into the PIX and started configuring the crypto map since this is what I am most comfortable with.
I was surprised (like all others who posted here) that valid commands were not accepted.
I work with PIX everyday and there is no way I could miss those syntax, but the firewall was simply giving error messages.
i checked the question again. I noticed that there is a sentence saying "IPSEC parameters should not be altered" .. DUH !!!
well ok, let me move to IKE then.
I start by :
isakmp enable outside
poof -- error why ?!
now i am confused it said to configure IKE so why the error?!
check the question again, it says IKE is already enabled.
fine.. let's read again Curfully .. what am i supposed to do.
it said to configure IKE, then configure the shared key.
so i started with
isakmp policy 20 .....
press enter .. and IT WORKED !!
configured all IKE parameteres, moved on to the router and did the same. all IKE commands were working fine and the crypto was not. even enabling it on the interface (not sure if it was supposed to be)
but any ways...

SUMMARY
============================
in short, I wanted to let you know what i noticed. although commands are valid in real life (you go back home and try it on your pix and it works fine) but if it is not requested in the question, it will not work.
Read CURFULLY !!!
and for those who like to save.. I couldn't save my config .. it didn't take the "wr m" command.
another point. my preperation was just the safe pdf and the boson. boson really did ease for me more than 10 questions.
finally:
i had few duplicate questions.
2 questions, I had each one of them (EXACTLY the same wording) appearing twice.
Whew!!
hope this helps someone.
Good luck | |

| I just passed the CSI exam yesterday, I crammed all I could into on the SMR the night before. Half of the exam was knowing which Key Devices were in which modules, and how each attack it mitigated at which level, etc. Know those cold and you are more than halfway there.
Definately 60 questions even. 1 Simulator, same for everyone. And "wr mem" will do the trick too. |
