Differences in 9E0-111 and the 642-521

| Hey Cisco heads ~
After a break from Cisco studies ( I did the Security+ by Comptia ), I am now jumping back in the Cisco pool again. This time not going for the the grandios CCIE, but instead before going that route again, it is time to enhance the brainpower with a good understanding of the PIX.
The only differences I can see in the above two tests, 9E0-111 and the 642-521 is that the 642 version has an 'Enterprise' Management and Maintenence section, as well as Firewall Service module section. Some other minor differences exist, but it is also my understanding that the new 642 series will renew my CCNA AND CCDA. The 9EO will not. I am going for the new 642 version
I would greatly appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, pitfalls or stories would be appreciated.
Thanks,

| Hey guys, the 642 exams will be released in June as part of the new CCSP track. Until then. the old 9E0-111 is all that's available for the PIX. I think it's worth noting that Cisco is moving the PIX, VPN, and SECUR (former MCNS) exams from the 9E0 series (channel partner level) to the 6xx Professional series.
I know an instructor at Global Knowledge, and he said a couple of his colleagues took the 642-5xx betas and they were a serious step up from the 9E0 level exams. Food for thought.

| Anchor,
Thanks man. Yeah . .Cisco is getting tougher on thier exams, and you are right, they are to be taken seriously.
When I study, I basically 'build' my own study guide as I traverse the material; my study guide and my method follows the Cisco exam outline to a tee ( and everything that I think it could cover )
There are some added goodies to the 642 outline ( mentioned above in my first post ) that are not in my CSPFA book; I may have to go to Barnes and Noble and look at the CSFPA 3.1 book and read it one night to fill in the gaps. Plus Cisco publishes so much stuff on their site, I know I might be able to fill holes with that too.
I have an added bonus; I have a 520 here at work that I can use on Saturdays.
PEACE!
