| If anybody is here, who took new CSIDS exam, please answer. I have exam coming this Friday. I have courseware 3.0, but I think that it does not address the exam.
My question is: is there any questions on exam about PostOffice protocol and internal IDS architecture? There is no PostOffice protocol in version 4.0/4.1 IDS software. I assume, that after moving in RH linux software from Solaris, internal architecture has also changed.
Please answer, I just need some guideline.

| I am looking for books of 643-531 CSIDS Beta exam . Anybody can tell me where can i get those books ? I allready have ids ver 3.0 courseware in PDF format but i think so this is not enough for the new beta exam .

i passed the csids beta exam yesterday
it's really difficult cz there are many questions about the screen capture while seting up the ids,ids mc,idm and security monitor
and it's based on the csid course 4.0
u should know every exam topic on CCO
and the passing score is 790,i only got 830
btw,there are two simulator questions,be careful! | |

| Just came from exam. Failed. Score - 714.
NOTHING avialable today in books cover most of exam topics. The only source - CCO.
Will try again next week. Now I know on what I should focus. | |

I saw your post your score right after the exam, but from cisco website, I got the following:
Beta Exam Score Reports
Beta exam results will be posted on the Cisco Career Certification Tracking System approximately 8-12 weeks after the last day to test. After Cisco has evaluated and scored the final exam, the testing vendor will send candidates a hardcopy score report to via regular U.S. Mail. For prompt delivery, please verify that your testing vendor has your current mailing address. Cisco is unable to send duplicate beta exam score reports in order to correct for returned mail or incorrect addresses.
Now the beta period has extended to Dec,15,2003 according to this page.

| now,the new CSIDS beta exam is already and being of the final round
so u can get the score right after u finish the exam,it's no need to wait for weeks! | |

| Passed yesterday with 860 score.
But, I have a feeling. If I know who composed questions for this exam, I'd go and kick his XXX. I have not seen more stupid/double meaning questions in any other test. | |

| OK, just a little info. Nobody answered me, when I asked the same question, but I'm not the same type of snob.
You should REALLY well know Enterprise Management of IDS sensors (read - Ciscoworks VMS Management Center and Monitoring Center). A lot of questions are from this topic.
Second, you REALLY need to understand signature configuration CLI, what are Master signature parameters and what they do.
You should read Appendix A of Cisco IDS sensor Configuration Guide v 4.1 very well and several times.
You should read command reference of IDS v 4.1
Be VERY careful about simulation. Again, some questions there really have double meanings. Be sure to know ALL available command/subcommand modes which is required to perform this task.
And there is a topic without any available information even on CCO - Internal Architecture of IDS 4.x There was two questions from this topic and I just guessed, because, as I said, there is no info on CCO/TAC.

| On the Cisco beta test page it says that you can take a beta test as many times as you'd like however, on the results from the first one count towards your certification. Did you get credit for taking this a second time?
