Anyone use the Boson practice exams for the SECUR test? How would you rank them as opposed to the real test?

I'd rank them as "good" preparation for the real test. I used them before taking the SECUR exam, as well as the Todd Lammle Sybex book. I also browsed through the Cisco CCIE Practical Security Studies book, too. I passed with an 885.

Don't even bother with testking. A co-worker of mine has an account with them and he printed up a copy of their SECUR practice test for me to look at. Many of the answers to the questions were wrong and it scared me to think that I was using it as study material. If you're going to use practice tests, Boson is the way to go, IMO.

Study up on Router MC (VPN Management Center for Cisco Routers) before you take the test. Lammle doesn't cover that subject in his book. There are a few Router MC study questions on the Boson tests.

Cool. I've used Knowledgenet's SECUR 1.0 training, Lamle's study guide, IOS Security Config Guide and Boson practice test 1&2. I also got a lil lab setup too. I think I'm ready, the only thing I don't have too much exp with is the router MC. Knowledgenet covered it pretty good though. I've only heard of test king, but don't think I would ever use them. Thanks for your help!

Congrats, man!! I had set up a lab, too. We've got a couple of extra 3640 routers at work that I used. It helped out quite a bit for setting up IKE and IPSEC on a router.

I'm gonna hit the CSPFA test next. Sybex has a book coming out next month on it and I'm gonna wait until it hits the shelves before starting the study process.

I'm gonna start the CSPFA also. I just bought the Cisco Press CSPFA Exam Certification Guide, I couldn't wait for Sybex (Although I'll get that when it comes out). I need to try and get a hold a of a pix or 2. I hear the PIX user config guide is a good refrence too. Good luck and thanks again. I'm sure we'll talk soon!!!

I'm fortunate in that aspect. We've got PIX 515s and 525s in our network. There's only two of us that administer the WAN, so I configure those things pretty regularly. Mostly access-list changes and such. Unfortunately, I can't take them "offline" to play around with them. I don't think that would go over to well with the network users.

I found a link which I posted in another thread (see the thread entitled "CCSP sims"). It's got firewall sims on it for the CSPFA...free. Happy studying.

Ya, I think we are in the same situation. I have 3 in my different offices, and although I'm the only one that administers them, I don't really want to mess with them. We have a 515e and a couple of 506e's.

You might like to know that I passed the MCNS exam recently w/ the help of Boson products. I think they have a good product.

Congrats, what next? I just purchased Boson practice exams for my next test CSPFA also. Plan to take the test by mid Nov.
