| Any NT4.0 Server people listening?
I have come across to problem that i have never seen!
NT4.0 server, when I go into the network settings, Protocols, click on tcp\ip and then click on properties to change the static ip address I receive this message?
Setup Message:
Unable to find the .inf source file. Check the /i switch on the setup command line.
Is there another way of change this station static ip address to another address?
Any help is welcomed.
Thanks, Rubenesta | |

Rubenesta - have you had any decent replies as yet? What have you tried and have you checked MS website?

| The problem appears to be with the tcp/ip stack. I would backup the system and repair tcp/ip on the machine. I forgot the command but a google lookup should point you in the correct direction | |

| Isn't .inf refers to the driver file ? Have you checked the driver file for this NIC ? Try getting the latest updated files. | |

| Rubenesta,
Thanks for posting your request in this forum. It caught my attention, because I am sitting here this morning trying to solve some NT Server challenges, too. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your query, just yet, but I will chime/in if I run across an inkling toward it.
The palaver you got was interesting. Not to condone flip responses, but may I suggest that we ignore the chaff, and see whether there is any value in the link that John Cena includes in his signature? Maybe he really means well, but is just stumbling over his words/sentences this morning! (Princess-and-the-Pea Syndrome)
I may be back to post my own request for some help later.
All th' eBest,

| I had the same problem a few years back but it was on a NT40 Member server.. I had to remove the TCP/IP Stack and reinstall it.
Its not a big deal unless your Server is the only DC on the network, then you would have to do it after hours.
Always backup your system before doing anything like this... just fyi |
