^^ Like John said, you most likely need to add the Host (A) record in the forward lookup zone.

Then use nslookup with the hostname. You may also wanna add the (PTR) record if nslookup doesnt wotk with hostname.

Please check within the zones that A and PRT for that servername exist, retry.

ok so what will it look like for it to be right? the domain is evrstuff.net. i made a primary dns server with evrstuff.net the (soa) is dns1.,hostmaster, the (ns) is dns1., (Host a) is 192.168.1.3 do we see what im saying now?

you are using no-ip org software.

IIRC, that maps current Ip of your machine to the DNS configurrd in the software.

So, if you did, nslookup on the domain name, that hsould give you the ip, details for ur server.

Ihvent use the no-ip org software myself.

All i know is that it maps dynamic IP to the dns (username)-no-ip.org.

Any one else has ideas about this!!!

The others have given you extremely good information. Mine may be too simplistic, but why not try? It's free.

It might be that the client side needs to point to your server.

On the client:
1) Check preferred DNS suffix (My computer>properties>computer name>change>"DNS suffix & NetBIOS computer name". Enter evrstuff.net.

2) Go to your NIC connection. Right click>go to TCP/IP properties>add the IP of the DNS server in this box.

(I'm posting from Linux, so the keystrokes may be different..)

Also, go to your primary forward zone. Double check that "allow both nonsecure & secure dynamic updates" is checked just in case it's a refresh issue.

Here's a link that might help: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/it.../dnstshot.mspx?
