Well what I need to know is what people think I should use to study for the 290 exam. I currently have the Microsoft MOC 2273. The book is ok, but what else do you think that I should use. Can't get exam cram book, cause the Bookstore can't order them for 6 weeks, and I don't want to wait that long. Any suggestions????

Also what about setting up a home network, would someone tell me what the best set up should be for that. Currently I have 3 PC's, as far as that goes, any suggestions on setting up the network.

You could go the cheap, but still effective way, which would be to look at the exam objectives and compare them against White Papers and items in the Res Kit on the Microsoft site.

the idea of trying to get your Server 2003 certification without setting up a home network to practice is on is just crazy. YES you need to set up a home network with at least 2 computers, 1 running server 2003 as a DC and an XP or 2000 host.

I know that you have to setup a home network, I was asking for any suggestions as to how many DC, and what service's the DC should be running, Like DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc......If I should have 1 DC and then a child in that Domain, and I know that I shoudl have at least 1 client in the mix.

So that is what I was asking, so any suggestions????

well i would follow what the MS press labs have you do. for 70-290... mostly you set up a 2003 server as the DC create accounts edit accounts things like that, terminal services, remote desktop, etx. 70-291 will have you setting up the DNS, DHCP, VPN servers and the like. The server 2003 MS press books i have been pretty happy with so far. I am currently studying for 70-291 and havent needed more than 2 computers (2003 DC & XP client) so far.
it would be good since you have 3 computers to use one for googling and what not and the other 2 for your lab since you will be changing IP addresses and doing things that might make life difficult if you are using your working computer as your client PC. its doable of course though.

hope that is a little more helpful for you.
