I'm trying to replace exchange 5.5 (installed on windows 2000) which was upgraded to exchange 2000 in an very old box to exchange 2003 in a xeon box.

I installed windows 2003 standard and joined the domain, then i installed exchange 2003 on it (after i upgraded all the ADCs on other 2 machines ..exchange 2003 told me that to do that on those 2 specific machins ).

Everything went well, I moved my mailbox to the new server and i can recieve e-mail but i can't send e-mail!!!!....

So after alot of work and frustration, i though about something... what if i cloned the old exchange server and put it on the new box, work out the new devices that are not going to be recognized, then upgrade the OS from win2k to windows 2003, then upgrade exchange 2000 to exchange 2003... then after that just replace the whole old box and put the new one instead. does that going to work... or is there another way of doing it???

Help pleaseeeeeeeeeee
Thanks in advance

HI ya,

1) you canot upgrade from Advance Server 2000 to Server2003. You can upgrade from server2000 to server2003 standard edition.

2)Did yoiu check your exchange settings, maybe you over looked ISA configuration (if you have configured it).

3) Cloning the machine.. havent dont that on the server level.. so cant comment; should work in theory.

Sorry cant be of much help.
