start by getting your hands on a copy of the OS - legally - and then buy a good book such as MS Press... you'll be well on your way

If you can not afford to purchase the software, a number of the books, especially MS Press books include a 180 day eval copy of the software. That should be enough to get you started.

Hey, I've been in your shoes. Hardest to just get started.

You can get a free eval version from Microsoft. However, I still haven't received mine. I got an eval with my 70-290 study book through Course Technology. That's what I'm posting from right now. Also look into purchasing Serebra cds. They have a great teaching interface.

I'm in a rut right now because I need to have an experienced tech create a simple domain to start me on. (I'm working up the courage to ask my Network Engineer neighbor..) However, QoD questions and Serebra are helping me learn in the meanwhile.

Good luck!

why not build your own domain? It's not that hard and you will learn plenty from doing it, even if you screw it up and you have to redo it a couple of times

I know, I know. You're right. There's nothing to lose. I can't really break anything that can't be fixed w/ a reinstall.

I have a tendency to hesitate to move on if I don't understand every little thing. If I don't break that habit, I'll end up as a programmer analyst.

I, I, I, me, me, me, my, my, my. Been talking only about myself lately. Hopefully, this info is helping Ashish_4_u as well.
