A note to all of you studying for your 290 Test! Do not take as gospel the answers M/S has given you. I've started finding problems with their solutions.

If interested and you'd like to discuss or you have one to discuss, let's go. I've noted a few as I take the tests and print them out and start studying what I WOULD have expected to be good solutions.

Makes me smarter certainly to research the answers rather than take their solutions blindly but it's also taking up my valuable time...

I wonder if MS has an errata file to accompany their book. I'll check and post if I find one.

There IS one for the book on the MS site but NOT for the questions on the CD.

For anyone who is interested - use this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/support/default.asp

Select step number two and enter your ISDN number.

You may not get what your looking for, but it's better than nothing.

They have about a million different MCSA/MCSE titles for 2003, it took me a while just to find which book I had from another list they posted. I thought I had the right one, but the authors name was wrong. I searched by ISDN number and found the correct one.

All hail Microsoft. ):

See Question 2 Page 6.56. They say Answer C is correct. They say answer E is not.

Doesn't answer E by choosing Full Control populate the READ with an explicit Allow???

If C is correct, how can E be incorrect?

Help..........

C'mon boyz and girlz you need to understand that when you sit the exams you have to go in with one vital bit of info.

Microsoft are noted for there underhanded trickery and ambiguity when it comes to exam questions. Having sat 15 I have an idea. Even the 70-219 AD Design exam gave you two pages or rambing to read an you only needed a couple of words to understand what is required from the question.

In general you will have 4 or 5 options to choose from. 2 anwsers will be way off two will be sort of close and the last one with have you doubting Microsoft.

For those of you who are yet to sit one, go an sit one, you are unlikely to fully understand the master plan until you sit a few but it does get easier.

I noticed the same thing about the exam questions that came with the MS Press Upgrade book. I tossed it and convinced my boss to purchase the Transcenders for the 2 upgrade exams. Now, if I can only find time to study I'd be ok
