| Hi,
Two days ago I pass last MCSE2000 exam and now a want uprade it to 2003. But I have only two weeks for this. Can You suggest me anythink ?

|
| How come you only have 2 weeks for this ? | |

| Two weeks will not be enough, even if you had all 24 hours in the day to work on it. I just don't think you can learn that much material and retain any useful amount of information.
Certification is not about the paper. I have read thousands of pages of material regarding 2003, worked for hours in the lab, applied my knowledge in the workplace, etc. This the means to develop skills that you need to back that paper up.
There is a book that perhaps you could read in two weeks, but it will only get you so far: "Delta Guide" for Windows Server 2003. It takes the approach that you already know Windows 2000. I used it as PART of my prep for the beta exams for 290 and 291 to earn my MCSA 2003.
Good luck, don't cut corners.
|
| Thanks for suggestion. I will read it all and we will see ......
Of course I will write about results of my efforts.
And one question. Does anyboby now anythink about new way of scoring in this exams ?
I know that passing score is 700, but it is 700 from zero to ..... ?

| I have a study calendar that currently reads the week of March 26th for the exam. I am reconsidering that date and working towards shortening that time considerably. What are you up to? | |

I began studying for the 292 to upgrade to MCSA 2003...then work towards MCSE 2003.
I got so side-tracked with renovating my new place on the weekends, and now focusing on actually moving in this weekend. So between all that and working full-time, I have not had much energy to focus on those goals.
I am looking towards early April to take the 292.
Best of luck on the 26th.

| Best of luck! It is a very admirable thing to enhance your living space. 292 and 296 will still be there. Good luck on the move! | |

| by the way the test score sheet was split up into catagories
eg:
manage and maintain Users, Groups Computers and Groups
manage and maintain Access to Resources
and 5 other catagories
all with the percentage bar which I found more informative than the stupid pass and fail.
Even thou I passed I know i'm a bit weak in the Disaster Recovery area
good luck on which ever option you take

I sheduled 70-292 at Monday. Can you tell me what kind of questions have you on exam (active directory, GPO, name resolution, certificates etc.)

| Make sure your review the exam objectives for 292 on the Microsoft Website. | |

| 292 is possible in two weeks if you know what you are doing. 296 was a different kettle of fish and I got caught out on that one, passed on the second attempt though.
I found both exams to be much better than the old 2000 ones, both in respect to higher difficulty level and relevance to real world situations.

| Hi olo
basicly what you have suggested +security with a slight bios towards name resolution
It will help if you have several strong fields.
They could be enough to get you through.
Best of luck go for gold
keep us posted | |
|
| I passed 70-292 yesterday with score 85-90%. I thing it was 85-90% - you know - after exam you see only pass/fail.
Quite many questions at quite short time. It's important to control passing time.
Next monday 70-296.
And I will post after .....

| Well done Olo, good luck on the 296. | |
|
| Yesterday I passed 70-296 and score was probably the same like 70-292: 85-90%. But exam was realy more difficult. More than half of all question was about security.
So now time for Cisco. By by Microsoft. See next year (MCSD).

| Passed 70-292 this morning - 3 weeks after writing my MCSA 2000 on 70-218.
It's very do-able in that time frame - read the objectives (it's not a long list!)
Also make sure you've some practical experience with 2003 Server (I used VMWARE). MS have a lot of demos of these new featues on their site - SUS, VSS etc.
One last thing - I did think some of the questions were pretty daft and badly worded. Hope that's not a sign of things to come on the rest of the 2K3 tests... |
