Theses betas are really delaying me sitting for the 218 I have the 218 scheduled for 9/27...gonna try and stick to it.

Good luck to all on the 282!

Installing SBS now. What a process!

This product seems like a great solution for less than >100 users. Great how everything is integrated right from the start.

I am still unclear, besides the user limitation, on what the shortcomings of this are compared to running W2K3 Server w/AD, Exchange, IIS. Are there any features that are not available? The documentation I have read does not indicate any limitations in terms of feature, besides the 2 different versions of SBS.

Looking forward to playing around with this. Although I had to pull my W2K3 DC offline so I did not cause any issues.

this exam seems to be covering every thing windows server 2003, Share point, exchange , isa, design, planning , backup, restore, SUS, GPO, upgrade to and from, owa, fax, 3rd party software, sql, fault tolerance, owa, terminal services, etc...

and it is realy not that well documented yet.

Well, I sat for this exam today. 90 questions, all standalones. No score at the end...have to wait the standard time.

This was a wierd test in my opinion. The questions ranged from Exchange connectors to basic backup strategies. Even some that would have barely qualified for the Net+ exam. There were many questions that only 1 choice seemed to be right, with the other 3 being obviously wrong. But there were also questions where 2 or 3 required some pondering on my part.

With that said, there were enough questions that were down right confusing and not constructed very well (in my opinion) for me to be unsure of how I did. Overall, I quess it was not a very hard test.

The focus was on SBS 2003, as well as W2K3. A few upgrade questions, GPO - mixed client environment type things. A few questions pulled right from the release notes. Honestly, the "features quide" and the "getting started guide" did not provide much help. Having installed SBS arguable helped me on maybe 10 of the questions.

The good news is that all the questions were short winded, and required barely any scrolling (just to give an idea of the length). The test still took me about 2.5 hours, so about 90 seconds a question.

Good luck to the remaining victims

I just got the invitation to 71-282, today. Probably a little late for me to seriously challenge it, so I'll focus on what I was working on: 71-298. Best of luck for the rest of you, though.

JB:

With your background, you could probably kill this exam without even studying. Take a look at my post in this thread.

If you have the time, you may want to consider giving it a go.

I am preparing for my offices migration to Active Directory and studying for 298. I would not want to dillute my attention to any of these tasks.

I just thought it was funny I had not gotten the invite until today.

SBS is a really interesting prospect from the standpoint of consulting. This is the IT era when small and medium businesses will be upgrading to 2k or 2k3. You could really deliver a power boost to a business with a couple of servers, a good internet connection, a domain name and SBS.

I passed the 282 with a 718. I can't figure out Microsoft's scoring bars. Most were at about 3/4 length with two of them at around 95%. How that equals a 718 is beyond me. Oh well. A pass is a pass......

Note that neither the vue website nor my Microsoft transcript have been updated to reflect this pass.

Steve
