| I've loaded it a few times, but it was while I was focusing on Exchange 2000. From the security and user experience there are a lot of improvements. Not too much different on the installation side of things. I did enough config to get it up on the Internet with OWA, etc. Best of luck! I know what you're up against, but it should be a great learning experience. | |

| what is your sugestion, this product is not documented well at microsoft, and i have no pervious experiance with exchange, so i will pick the 70-224 microsoft book and start reading it.
which is better the sybex or the microsoft book for 70-224
thanks | |

| I have note read the MS book, the Sybex book is an easy read, I don't know if that's good though. I read ExamPrep for 224 cover-to-cover and while I hated the book, it did cover the topics. I'd say go with the MS book. Have you had a chance to load Exchange 2003? | |
|
| yes installed it, but need to play with it a little more, what is the best lab setup for the 224 exam. | |

| For 224, best would be minimum of two computers to load Exchange 5.5 on an NT box then work on interoperability and upgrade scenarios. Because I was not familiar with either Exchange 5.5 or 2000, I actually spent a bit of time on 5.5. As far as the exam goes, I think the exam is easier than the preparation. I spent 6-7 months to get to the point where I felt I could take 224. I still have not taken it though. Money was an issue in terms of an exam that would not get me any additional credentials. (That has changed for me now with the Messaging certificates coming available.)Plus as I was winding down my preparation for 224, I was gearing up for 290, 291 and 297. I am actually thinking of taking 224 and 227, to get both messaging and security designations for my MCSE. | |

| I sat for the exam today, and likely failed it miserably. Too much going on this past week to really sit down and learn the material.
Anyway, I had 90 questions, mostly multiple choice. The questions were well constructed and seem to cover a respectable array of objectives.
The exam only crashed once, but was up and running after a PC restart. Took me about 3 hours to complete.
Unless I guessed well and/or absorbed more than I think from the reading I actually accomplished, I do not expect to receive a passing score. It is the learning process I am after anyway, more so than passing an exam with topics I do not possess practical experience with.
I love these betas because they get me to sit down and learn about new technologies.
Anyway, plenty of DNS, Exchange clusters, mixed mode environments, troubleshooting. Very little on upgrading, which was surprising, and unfortunately was what I mainly focused on.
Good luck to those who will take it over the weekend.

I used the guides I posted in this thread:
http://www.examnotes.net/article1020894.html
I downloaded the administration guide also, but never got to it. I never installed Exchange on my server at home because I thought I would have time to mess with it a bit at work, but that did not happen.
The test date came up so quick...is it me, or is their usually more time between registration dates and the exam dates?
Anyway, good luck if you sit for it SRV1...better reschedule for the weekend it if you have not done so already. Or just keep hope alive hope for that free voucher to take it when it goes live in Q4. I still think you may get burned with it scheduled after this weekend.
