| As i now conquer the Windows 2003 (having come a long way from NT 3.51).. I was hoping to post important info here to help new learners. It's also a selfish thing because I'll practice what I preach and will get some response too (i hope).
OK for starters, let me separate two things first:
If you are an Windows 2000 (real) practicing mcse (not a wannabe) then i can start one thread for that.
Those jumping in straight i can post that type of info. Because some will make sense more to first group than the next.
If it works out and I can keep up with it, then great. If not, ah well at least it is a good thought right now.
OK so here goes as a starter:
Group1: What do you think is the biggest reason Windows 2003 came out? I mean, if you have a full blown network of Windows 2000 machines, why will you buy Windows 2003? (Exams are gonna hit on this i am so sure)
Group2: What will you expect to find in a new job if you got certified today on Windows 2003?
more to come later.. | |

| I'll tell my thoughts on the group 1 question.
First of all, many companies have recently (within last 2 yrs) upgraged to windows 2k. I dont think after spending all the money and resources to upgrade to 2k, they wont jump right in to server 2003. If it is operating perfectly fine under a full 2k enviroment, most companies wont upgare. Also, for the record, there are still plenty of companies still running windows nt4 and i think they will upgrade to 2k in most cases as it has been out a little more longer.
second questions.
I think if you are just starting in IT and the windows server, I would suggest going for at least a mcsa 2k, before going on to the 2003 track. the reason is simple as stated above. There will be more companies in demend for a 2k admin then a 2003 admin in the next 2 years.

| That puts a spin on things , xakep.
I don't have any certs in Microsft but i know the material inside out, I'm now upgrading my companies network from Novell to Win2003 environment.
Studying for my cert the sametime, I'm now trying to figure out if i should go for Win2003 cert or go win2k .

| Their are many people out their without certs., but are doing pretty well in IT so getting certs will b an extra advantage to those IT Experts/Prof's.
I agree with xakeP that alot of companies hav recently upgraded their network to win2k or are working on updating it 2 win2k & they will not even think of jumping 2 win2003 for the next 2-3 years, now the companies upgrading to win2003 network were/are upgrading from NOVEL, UNIX or NT. so it will b better 2 get MCSA on win2k & MCSE on WIn20003 |
