| Good find on that last one, JB.
I noticed a few typos in the WS2k3 SG, as well as a couple of questionable listings in it. Hence I would recommend that you apply the knowledge gained from the literature into a lab setting if at all possible.

| I bought a few books myself. I have never tried anything by Wiley, but I bought Windows 2003 Bible and 2003 Security Bible. I went through the first 5 chapters... most of it is pretty much review until Chapter 5. It finally gets into some of the new feature ins 2003, SIP and so forth. | |

| I am queued for this on the last day as well. I have been working out of the applicable chapters from the MS Press 292-296 book. I have a virtual lab with two servers in two sites and an XP client. It has been fun! I took the 214 beta last year, that was a blast! Best of luck! | |

| The exam is 180 minutes with 70 questions in traditional Microsoft format. There were no case studies, just individual questions. I found that I had more than enough time to go through, finish and review the questions at least once.
The majority of questions I received were mainly choose the correct option on multiple choice. There were some other formats involved, primarily drag and drop and a single quasi simulation question.
Although I felt that I did fairly well, I was left disappointed of what Microsoft is intending to convey on this exam, as the scope was simplistic, mainly refined to tackling elements of AAA. While this approach to security is acceptable, the methods of testing are hardly adequate.
First there is the lack of simulation questions, requiring you to do the very things that they are attempting to assess your knowledge of. Rather than asking questions based on a senario then providing the answers, they should require people to do it. Missing this key element, in my opinion, virtually defeats the purpose of the exam.
Second, with a good number of questions, careful reading and elimination of the incorrect answers can reveal the correct answer, rather than having actual field-ready skills. Being able to use deductive reasoning is a nice skill, but should not be the primary skill displayed on a test on security.
Cheers,
