Test bit me today 70-292

| I had a piece of humble pie today. I failed 292. It really surprised me with some of the questions but others I felt good about. I ran out of time on the last 5 questions so I played guessaroo with them. I am using MSPress which is good. I think I would have passed had I noticed my time more closely. Oh well, either retaking tomorrow or Sat.
The test had lots of real world type questions and I had about 40-50% of exhibits. They really wore on my nerves too. I got lots of Audit policy, SUS, Remote Admin/Assistance, DNS, and some oddball questions with VBScript and IPSec\SMB signing.

| Well I took my own advice and got back on the horse and passed 292 today. I knew I had to have been close yesterday. The exam today was much easier and stuck to the MS guidelines and to the MSPress book which reaffirmed my initial feelings for it as a study guide. I had a lot of SUS, TS, Remote Admin, DNS(all the new stuff was hit on), and auditing. All in all a very different pool of questions today. Not nearly as wordy and not nearly as many exhibits today.
On to 296. How's 224 coming Jeff?

Dennis I know that you took 296 and had a hard time with it. Was it a lot of reading and a time issue with you or was it more of a case where the test seemed one sided on one topic that wasn't your favorite. I have had tests that tested me hard on subjects that I wish they had not. When are you going to go for this one? I am scheduled for mid November. Good luck to you.

I think my problem was that the test questions were worded in a way where it confused me more than other exams. And the format on the drag and drop and others were a bit confusing. I am debating taking this exam again next week sometime. I recall several questions pertaining to what version of 2003 to use in different senerio's (i.e. you have 3 DMZ's 14 VLAN across 12 subnets and you want a DC on the DMZ to act as a DHCP server and a secondary DNS sever to half of the VLANS and a primary DNS and secondary DHCP server for the other half. Then the question is where to put the SOA.)

| Those do sound like treacherous questions. I am using MSPress and 2 DCs running 2003 Standard. Let us know how the retake goes. I know btroadman is prepping for this one too. Good luck to us all.

Were any topics covered more heavily than others? Were the exhibits and drag and drops tougher than on 292?

| I think the exam overall was quite more difficult. Drag and drops were a bit confusing.

How did you go for time on 296? I finished 292 with about 20 secs to go, didn't get the chance to go back through the ones I'd marked. I've booked 296 in for the end of November and am currently using the ms press guide. I've also done a microsoft 296 workshop. I'm hoping Transcender bring out there practice exam soon.
