| Hi all,
I took the exam back last year in Novemeber and failed with a score of 724. I have the exam booked again for this Monday, my main worry for the exam is the tricky questions where it would appear there is more than one correct answer, not to mention the poor wording ! Whats the best approach for these questions ?
I nervous this time round, someone please help !
If I fail again I`ll be writing to Comptia and asking for a refund !

| hey...
well if u study and study and know the material but still cant pass??
id suggest testking which u can find on limewire (use version 8.0 or later...)
i never use those testkings or any other of those braindumps or anything like that except for a book, but i made an exception for this one becuase the wording sux so badly.....

| No you dont use brain dumps if at all possible.
Even if you do pass on monday, today, I would email comptia and tell them how you feel about the test. These cert producers have to listen to its source of income, us cert takers. So I would suggest you email them today if you pass or fail. GL!

| Having passed both my A+ and network+ and failing the server+ exam I have to say I'm starting to think it wasn't worth it. The exams are really poorly worded and some of the questions are misleading. The point of an exam is to test people's skills not to try and trick them with poorly written questions. CompTIA are known for crappy worded exams and what cheeses me of more is that the questions are in American English and being English sometimes I don't understand the dialect. Another thing they are also a ripoff. | |

| Okay took a dummy run this morning with prelogic test got 91% was feeling confident. Arrived at test centre, left test centre feeling proper annoyed. Studied my arse off, and what a suprise I failed and got 668 (works out about 74%). So imagine my amazement / dissapointment when I ended up with a worse score than last time.
So for the record:
1st Attempt 724
2nd Attempt 668
The wording of the questions are awful, needless to say am proper pissed off.
I will re read TCAT's book till Im blue in the face, I will try test king !
3rd time lucky as they say !
I will email Comptia, but then if other people can pass why cant I !!!!!!!
Like I say 3rd time lucky, I wont be doing it a 4th time I`ll be looking at other Certs ! Comptia wont get another penny off me !

| Join the club - except I was 8 points and then 4 points from the pass mark
After spening a lot of time reviewing my failures (the only test I have ever failed in my life) I think the biggest thing is to realise that some of the questions/answers have multiple correct answers and instead of looking for the 'most correct' - re-read the question and ask yourself ... What the f&*k does InComptia want here?

| hmmmmmm Im extremely suspicious, But lets just say I think the way forward is Testking. We will see.
I will be retaking the test within the next 2 weeks, will let you know how I get on.
Oh well look like another £166 pounds worse off. Im getting increasingly suspicious of Comptia, maybe they design these questions, with the thought of lining their pockets. Just a thought !
Once I pass Im throwing a huge party, thats if Im not Bankrupt, in debt and living on the street.

| hahahha russs.... exactly!!!
incomptia .. u hit the nail on the head.
u know i took their A+ exam with no studying, just using what i already knew and passed both they are really easy... but those questions are straightforward and generally dont have more than 1 right answer,....
and for this security + i studied using 3 books!!! i took all the practice tests from ALL the books and i always got 90+ percent... i aced them.....
i studied hard and like u i have never failed anything either...
so when i invest money that i cant get back it pisses me off that im set up for failure from the start with a bs test.
that is why i made the choice to use the testking.
but suffice it to say ive learned my lession with comptia tests!!
NO MORE COMPTIA CRAP!!!
im off to the more advanced one anyways... i just wanted the comptia cuase it counted dually as an elective for the MCSA so i thought that would be cool. and lets face it, the material is very easy.... very very much soo....
comptia, im banning u!!! no more of your crap. no more money for u.

| Dont give up man! to pass sec+, you must know your material. It really is worded that bad but what can we do. Its their exam and we are the great all time guinee pigs! We complain about this and that to them, they don't respond! That life my friend. study harder this time around. You too can do it!!! | |

| Wow! All these failures are pretty discouraging. I currently have the Sybex Second Edition book, a book that our school used, and I have TCat's on order with Amazon (which has been on back order since mid December and it still hasn't shipped, even though they say it will ship in 24 hours or less on their site). I guess you could say I am an experienced CompTIA examinee since I have 4 already, all of which I got on the first try with less than a month of studying each, but this test definitely looks to be an ugly one. Guess it is just time to go into overtime for studying. Keep with it, I'm sure you will pass. | |

| Don't let failures of others put you off.
Several of the kids I have tutored for Sec+ have passed with flying colours. I think that for me the exam is totally wrong as I refuse to change my way of thinking just to pass an exam.
Yup - that means I am closed minded, but then again I refuse to compromise on principles

| Do NOT use test-so-called-king just because you failed a test. This stuff is garbage.
What you need to do is this:
1. Objectively assess what parts of the objectives you are having trouble with. Is it encryption? Is it security topoligies? etc...
2. Once you have isolated those areas that you have problems with, focus on one of them and one only and hammer it until you know and *understand* it inside and out. Ask questions, that's why we're here. Hell, I will have a free security+ chat session on Thursday, join us and ask all the questions you need. I will also talk about *how* to pass those tests.
3. braindumps are not the way. Even if you pass you will feel hollow and wonder if you really know that stuff. It's just a wretched thing to do to yourself.
4. Email me and I will send you a free copy of my study guide for Sec+ to encourage you to go on studying *the right way*. |
