I just purchased the Security+ practice exam from Cert21. While some of it's great, it is absolutely LOADED with incorrect information. The test's "correct" answers do not match the explanations for a A LOT of questions. I've written to complain and request a refund but I doubt it will be acknowledged. Beware if this is the only guide you are using to study for the exam. It's good as long as you realize that a lot of info. on it is not correct.

Try the free practice tests at www.mcmcse.com. They're pretty good.

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out for the MCSA track I plan to do next.

Just smoked the Security+ this morning. Passed with an 884. Thanks to all for the tips, study notes, practice tests and braindumps.

OK, need to clear the air... I did not pass studying off br@indumps!! I read lots of information from different sources, applied what I learned and practiced in real-world environments. Study notes and a few br@indumps as a final review is not harmful if you've already learned the material. I completely agree that they should not be used alone and it is cheating to pass any test by using them. Just wanted to clear that up so people stop bashing me and implying I'm a cheater. I studied for a long time and learned a lot so please stop assuming things.

You can polish a turd, but in the end... it's still a turd.

We're not assuming you used braindumps, you told us you used braindumps. If you studied as hard and learned as much as you say, then why do you need the dumps, just a question, not an attack.

If you used dumps then you cheated, it's as simple as that.

Braindumps??? I've never heard of these....Are they some sort of practice exams that question you on the exam material? If so, I'm not sure why some of you would call this cheating. If you don't use/work with the necessary technology to pass the exam then how do you expect to learn the material. For me personally I use textbooks and practice exams aswell as my professional experiences to pass an exam. I mean while in university and even today I create my own practice exams using material found in textbooks, whitepapers, etc. Now does this mean I've cheated to pass these exams? Granted professional experience is 100% more valuable and effect when studying. However, if you wish to enter the network security marketplace or begin to understand how some of this technology is implemented then textbooks and practice exams are essential tools to learn from and train yourself. If I'm complete off target on what a braindump is then please ignore everything I've just stated. :-)

Yes they are, dumps are EXACT questions and answers to peoples tests. They leave the testing center and write (or take pictures of the screen) the questions down and sell these to people who are too lazy to study and learn. You sign a disclosure when you take an exam that states that you will not tell anybody else what was on the test, and when you do it is cheating, it's that simple. Writing your own questions from the book that you are learning from is fine, studying someone elses actual test is not!

Ok, if that's what braindumps are then they're definitely a form of cheating. Hey I learned something new today...It wasn't a total waste of a day then...:-)Thanks everyone for the clarification/explanation.

Ok guys... settle down... We're all working towards the same goal, Network/Computer SECURITY.. We already have enough enemies out there. Matter of fact, we all need to be supportive and professional with each other.

As far as braindumps go (for those who don't know) they are not, I repeat NOT, the correct way to learn ANYTHING. As mentioned earlier, they're basically from people who have taken a test (any test) and share the questions and answers (not always the right ones by the way) with anyone willing to buy or use them. BEWARE: Some people will put the wrong information out there just to mess you up. Remember, just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true or correct.

If your serious about being a security professional, (People WILL find out how much you actual know in the real world)then you should make every effort to actually learn what your working on and with. That means using all industry accepted materials (pratice test, books, labs, courses, white papers, forums, etc.) to soak up the knowledge. It's not easy sometimes, but it WILL be worth the effort. I wish you all the best of luck.....
