Security+ - Need Advice!!!!!

I'll be graduating with a BS in technology management in dec. and I just passed my MCP test last month. My minor is Information Assurance, but I have a feeling the minor is a huge joke, we have yet to even look at a router. I would like to get into security, and I noticed this cert could help. I was wondering if anyone could lend me some advice on if it would be worth it, and if so what the best books and pratice test are.
