| Hi!
I'm considering taking the Security+ exam and I would like to know about books and other resources that could be useful in my preparation for the exam..

| I recomend ExamCram Sec+ study guide. There tests at the end of each chapter are a bit harder than the actual exam but if you read the book and do well on their practice exams you should pass with flying colors. Good Luck | |

| Passed back in January with a 895. Took 3 attempts to pass this cert. Never failed a cert exam until the Sec+.
First time around in November I did two reads of Sybex, EC2, TCat ExamWise (QnA book), Transcenders and Boson #2...Failed it. By the way, I was scoring in the high 80s and 90s on these practice tests.
Second attempt a few days later, just tried to brush up on some of what I thought I was week in...Failed.
Third attempt...waited for a month while using Tcats FULL PDF. First read then another going through the summarys at the end of each chapter. Also puchased Boson #1 and #3. The #3 Boson I would say is about as close as anything Ive ever seen on the actual exam and helped alot. I ought to know, sat the exam 3 times.
Just as everyone here has said. Just because you're scoring well on practice tests does not mean a pass on this exam. All other exams Ive sat for, once Ive done about all the sudying I can, I then buy a bunch of practice tests, take them several times until I know the stuff and that usually works. Not with the Sec+ exam.
Go with Sybex, EC2, TCat, Boson #3. Also Sybex has practice CD w/book and some good flash cards that helped.
Do not rely on one book/source to pass this exam...EC2 alone will probably not give you a pass...Good luck. | |
