| I passed my network+ exam last thursday, which was when i decided to imediatley start the security+.
I have set myself a 1 month time frame to complete it in, do you think this is acheivable?
I have many resources, including syngress, que, transcender, testking and preplogic.
I am I being crazy here or is this an acheivale target?

| "...security knowledge mastery of an individual with two years on-the-job networking experience, with emphasis on security..."
have you got it in you? | |
|
| It all depends on your experience level and other issues in your personal life. I started last Sept and took the exam late Nov and failed. Tried again two days later...failed. Not until late January did I pass. This is a tricky exam for some people as it was for me and I have 15+ yrs in IT. With a 50+ hr a week job and two kids, any cert I obtain takes me several months. If your plate is not that full, I'd say 2 months.
Best of luck... | |

| Cool. I don't have any actual on the job experience, but i have done a lot of networking in the lab. I trained my two previous certs at college, with lectures on hand, and i manged to pass in 2 months, only training at 2 days a week!
I am going solo on this one, because my college don't actually offer it, but i do have access to a qualified trainer of the course, who has offered to give me any help and advice that i need. Also theres the full kit of toys for me to play with if needed.
I've completed domain 1.0 so far, in 5 days, and so far i feel its goin quite well.
Thanks for the advice! | |

| You can do it, all you have to do is dedicate yourself to studying at every available opportunity for the next month.
Let us know how you do.
Good luck! | |

| is your rush job related?
i am studying sec+ primarily and others on the side. i have 10 months before my voucher runs out, so i will be taking my time to better understand this.
i guess up to now, ive had it easy as the certs i studied before (A+, net+) were somewhat familiar to me so the learning curve wasnt as great, but most of this sec+ is very new to me. occasionally i come across terms ive seen before but never really understood. also i think there is a lot more material here than the others.
i guess if you need to do it, you can cram any book in less than a month, but how well do you think you will understand what you are learning?

| It is a personal target i have set myself. I had strong tutiton for A+ and Net+, and I understand them very well. A lot of the stuff i am readin on the security + is familiar, but just in a lot more depth. I am studying this for the simple reason that I am a month ahead of the rest of my peers, and i am due to start the MCSE when they catch up, but the s+ is a cert that I really wanna get, so thats why im trying to cram it in a month. | |

| I took Security plus with a deadline of less than one month to study and pass the exam. I had no previous cert experience or security experience. I studied the Sybex book as well as the passport book (crap) and Tcat's PDF... Tcat and Sybex were all I needed to pass with flying colors. I think it took me about 3 weeks in all.
I say go for it! |
