Hi I am in a Networking program and Security+ is one of the course i am taking shortly. The book they encourage you to buy with the course is Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals by Mark Edmead (Author), Paul Campbell (Author), Steven Boswell (Author)published by course technology. I have read the reviews and they are terrible so i really dont want to waste my money on it if it wont prepare me for the certification. Anyone with any suggestions on what I should be using please reply it will be greatly appreciated. THX

As far as recommendations regarding books for the Security+ exam try reading the reviews here before deciding on what to purchase: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/s...7039053-5016867

"Security+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide" by Greg White seems to cover all the objectives. Although I haven't taken the exam all the reviews agree with me that its a great all-in-one book.

Most common ones seem to be Sybex, ExamCram2 and Tcats Full PDF which you can buy in paperback from www.totalrecallpress.com. Read and re-read your material several times.

I felt the Boson #3 test was a good one.

Good luck.

Ok i passed the test awhile ago and had to take it twice, i used a couple of different books:
-Syngress Security+ book with DVD = crap--save your money
-Xcheat--exams studyguide = crap it was 75% the questions out of the syngress book
-Pasport Series Security+ = ok if you are starting out but wont help you with the questions on the exam
-TCAT's pdf = the one i got was like 500 pages i really didnt even read it, i hate reading stuff on my computer i am old skool and like my stuff on freshly killed trees. what i read seemed like good material not sure how applicable it was to the exam.
-PrepLogic Questions = crap
-Microsoft's Security+ book= NOT CRAP, the book was recommended off the Comptia site. I reluctantly bought it after i failed the first time. While the questions on the CD are nothing like the exam the material in the book was great and covered all the things on the test. If you know that book you will pass.

just my opinion, flame away list trolls....
