| Wow, after reviewing some posts I’m going to study a few more days before I sit for the test. I’m not interested in taking this twice. I understand the concepts and do well on the practice tests. So if anyone has any additional suggestions, I’m all ears.
Study material used so far:
Examcram2 Security+
CramSession CompTIA IT Security + .pdf (9/12/02)
Prep Logic Practice Tests
Test King Security+ Version 2.0 (poor quality)
CompTIA Examination Objectives (as my note sheet)
Syngress – Appendix A (80 page - Q&A)
Referenced:
Hacking Exposed. (2nd edition)
Planning:
ExamWise .pdf (223 pages of Q&A)
I’ve downloaded the tcat .pdf, but have not looked at it yet. Is it still only in beta form?

| You can purchase Tcat's lastest updated PDF for $20. It's well worth the money. | |

| It sounds like you have done the work, make sure you patch the holes in your knowledge before you sit the exam. Good luck! | |

| ok, the wording on the exam sucks. I was going to say something even if I passed.
I'm not going to "quote" full questions... but I hated choices like a. users or b. all staff. Plus, there are so many double negatives it will drive you nuts.
What am I going to do? Study some more and retake it next week. Bottom line though, this exam needs to be reworded.
worst part... everything is on my dime (& time). I'm unemployed at the moment. | |

| That's sad. The exam is so expensive $225 US and you are unemployed..dang..
Better luck next time. | |

| That sucks. Even with a voucher it is still a $165 test. Good luck on the retake, at least this time around you will somewhat know what to expect from the CompTIA tests. | |

| The price of CompTIA exams is a tad tight. For the value of them, I think I am about done taking them. Not sure at this point.
One thing that I find that helps when taking their exams is to make sure you eliminate all wrong answers first. That has always helped me with CompTIA's test. They are somewhat poorly worded, but if you think about what they are trying to say, you can usually figure it out.
Sometimes you can take out words of the sentence, ask the sentence questions, and also look for key words to point you to what they are getting to. I have several methods that has worked for me, but each person does different things when test taking. One thing I do is make sure the subject matter is overlearned if possible and always at the front of my mind on test day. That way when I walk into the testing center I have already conquered the test.
Hope this helps some. It is hard to keep paying exam prices these days! |
