| I just finished recertifying my CCNA. Since I'm a mood for more certifications, I thought I'd go far Server and Security. Any opinions on which one I should study for first and maybe some recommendation on books? | |

| Well, it depends on what you are interested in.
Server+ would probably garner a greater understanding of the server software out there as well as some features and issues surrounding them. Server+ has been around for quite a while.
Security+ would garner a greater understanding of the security issues out there. Security+ is newer, more expensive and the question pool has been called "less than mature".
Cheers,

| If you just finished your CCNA, then I would think the most logical choice would be to take the Security+ exam, as it relates to the CCNA exam quite a bit.
I would suggest the Sybex book and TCAT's PDF.

| Go for the Security+.....
With all the need for people that know security
that the way I would go. CompTia Security+ exam
is a beginers exam for the people entering the
Secuirty field.
But I would say any SEcurity Certifications are going to be hot in the next few years.
|
| Security+ a beginners exam? Hardly.
Read the recommendations for it on the Comptia site.

| the security exam is NOT a beginners Exam in type of exam.
But a beginners Security Exam in Security Exam that are starting to show up and will show up.
That is what I should have said.

| Close enough
Actually I know a CISSP who failed Sec+. He decided to sit it after my grumbles about some questions and the way Comptia has structured the exam. Considering this guy earns 6 figures and can quote most stuff off the top of his head, I find this quite funny. |
