pick and choose my friend, pick and choose.

Do it on a system that you don't care about, there is some mildly dangerous stuff for the uninitiated. There is a beginners section on astalavista. www.blackcode.com is worse. That is just one of the places where the script kiddies get their first taste of code that they don't understand. Then they accidentally release something stupid into the wild. You have to register before you can download.

You have to pay for web site content or have advertizing. You can't have it both ways. As we can see from this web site, it is not easy to get advertizers. The dot com bubble burst a while ago. In any case many of the text files on astalavista are free. There are probably a few things to learn since you said that you were a beginner. Notice that two windows will open a dot net and a dot com. Look around on the dot com window. You should trip across several dozen free newbie files. Then there is trivial starter code, guides etc. enough to keep you busy experimenting for a few weeks.

Remember one of the first rules of hacking is assume nothing, try everything!
