| Just got done taking the Sec+ beta exam, I don't think I passed, but if I did it was very border line. A few things to pay close attention to on this exam:
1.) A lot of Crypto! Know the types, their strong and weak points, and how they work. (This was my worst area!)
2.) Know MAC/DAC/R(Rule and Role)BAC inside and out. Read questions with these carefully!
3.) Know your attacks, types of viruses and how they work. Know about probing (ping, port, share, etc) and how they work.
Those were the majority, I'd say about 60% to 70% of all questions asked. Also you might want to have a Network+ or I-Net+ before taking this exam, there will be DMZ, Firewall, Host questions. Past that, I like this exam, I'm sure it won't be anything big, but is a nice bulding block to a CIW - Security and in time a CISSP. I recomend waiting for more material to come out, but Tcats pdf is great, yet uncomplete. CramSession's PDF is not really worth it, but the material it links to are great. I do hope this helps some people out, and it's a good exam to try for if you like learning and testing yourself, but I can't see it being a major player when it comes to getting work, or job advancement. |
